Air conditioner control without the cloud

A split AC whose app stopped working when the vendor's cloud went down. It has a serial port under a panel. Talk to it directly and hand it to Home Assistant.

Requirements

Implement the wire protocol described in the repo (it is a real one, documented from a logic-analyser capture)

A daemon that exposes power, mode, target temperature, fan speed and current room temperature

Home Assistant climate entity over MQTT discovery

Reconcile state: if someone uses the remote, the daemon notices within five seconds

A simulator of the AC that speaks the protocol, so this is doable without the unit

Bonus Points

A "comfort" mode that holds temperature with fewer compressor cycles
